Opis
Streszczenie:A sensitivity analysis of the effect of the heat flow, casting temperature and casting rate in estimating the thickness of the solidified layer in the continuous casting was performed. Due of experimental difficulties for determining this thickness, a mathematical model of heat transfer during solidification, which consisted of a Lagrangian formulation in unstable state 2D was formulated. To simplify the solution, the concept of effective thermal conductivity was used in the liquid phase, so this phase was modeled as if it were a solid. With the alternating direction implicit method, the solution was obtained. The model was verified and validated by comparing the analytical solution and experimental results from the literature respectively. It was observed that with different casting temperatures it is possible obtain a solidified layer similar to the mold outlet.
