description Discharge area that serves as a receiving body of industrial effluent produced in the alumina plant Bauxilum company, runs an open channel of approximately 650 meters long. However, water flows that carry solid particles and chemicals that target channel are observed. 15 soil samples were taken, 6 are selected. According to the granulometric analysis obtained, these soils are SC type (sandy soils with uniform particle sizes, with inorganic clays of low plasticity and gravel material between broken rock and soil). In relation to chemical analysis it was determined that the soils are highly alkaline, having high concentrations of sodium (range from 5,59% to 8,22%), iron (range from 5,56% to 7,53%) and aluminum (ranging from 10,15% to 18,36 %), which are considered to be alkaline soils. These sediments have high levels of environmental contamination, therefore, they must be valued for their industrial use, in this way it could reduce the potential impact of the areas surrounding the alumina plant.
