Summary:Most of the national energy demand comes from thermal (26.3%) and hydroelectric (61%) plants that affect the environment, self-generating energy with 8.2%, 0.2% by exchange and the rest with renewable power plants (4.3%). In order to increase the percentage of electric generation in a sustainable way and improve the quality of life of the neediest populations, this study is necessary which talks about the generation of an effective procedure for the analysis of the Wind Energy and Photovoltaic potential of these regions. The dry regions are a potential area of study for the installation of these energies, due to natural conditions presented by these regions. An analysis of the different dry areas of the Republic of Panama was performed using the equation of Masson, wind speed, energy density and the data of wind; the solar radiation in ten years of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States (NASA) and interactive environmental maps of the Ministry of Environment. Based on the energy potential and the need for power, the following areas were selected for the implementation of hybrid systems: Chichica in Ngäbe-Buglé, Las Minas in Herrera and El Retiro in Coclé. It is recommended to perform field validation studies and incorporate beneficiary populations explaining them the benefits they will specifically through the provision of renewable energy, improving their quality of life and contributing to sustainable development.
