| Whakarāpopototanga: | In this paper a preliminary study about the location of an offshore wind farm in Panama is presented. This study takes into accounts economic, touristic, environmental and social factors of the regions additionally to the wind speed of the sites. It is important to point out that using the software Earth, the Panamanian coastal sites (Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Colon and West Panama) with the most suitable wind potential were determined; however, using the Environmental Atlas of the Panamanian Ministry of Environment and other tools, various zones of the country where discarded based on the limitations that the aforementioned factors had over a project of this type. The result of our analysis indicates that the most suitable place for locating an offshore wind farm would be Colon’s Costa Arriba. |
