A quantitative study of nonexperimental design of a transversal descriptive type was carried out in which 50 workers participated randomly and two instruments were applied (Clinical form and Health & Lifestyle Questionnaire). The cost-benefit assessment of occupational risk was obtained from a computer program (CERSSO toolbox). 92% were male, with more than 10 years working and secondary school education. Food and lifestyle result that 62% includes fruits/vegetables on meals and 64% do exercise regularly. 66% had a normal blood pressure; the average expiratory flow (peak flow) was 464.16 l/min. The metabolic evaluation shows that the mean LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol were 118 mg/dl and 47.5 mg/dl respectively. The cost of occupational risk for accidents and/or illnesses was B/.118,334.36 and the cost of investment in health prevention was B/.14,935.55. Manual workers were in good health according to the parameters used. The perception of health and nutritional information suggests offering a preventive work program. In addition, a positive balance was obtained that saves the hospital 7.89 times if an investment is made in occupational risk prevention in a timely manner. |

Mediante un estudio cuantitativo de diseño no experimental, de tipo descriptivo transversal donde participaron 50 trabajadores obtenidos al azar, se aplicaron dos instrumentos (Ficha clínica y Cuestionario de estilo de vida y salud). La estimación costo-beneficio del riesgo laboral se obtuvo de un programa informático (Caja de Herramientas CERSSO). El 92% fueron masculinos, con más de 10 años trabajando y escolaridad de nivel secundario. En alimentación y estilo de vida, el 62% incluye en su alimentación frutas/vegetales y 64% hace ejercicios de manera regular. El 66% tuvo una presión arterial normal, el flujo espiratorio medio 464,16 l/min. En la evaluación metabólica, la media de LDLcolesterol y el HDL fueron 110 mg/dl y 47.5 mg/dl respectivamente. El costo del riesgo laboral por accidentes y/o enfermedades fue de B/.118,334.36, y el costo de inversión en prevención en salud fue de B/.14,935.55. En los trabajadores manuales se encontró un buen estado de salud según los parámetros utilizados. La percepción de salud y la información nutricional sugiere ofrecer un programa laboral preventivo.
