Summary:Motivated by the high level of strength, toughness and hysteresis of spider silk and its ability to adapt in various applications, this article intends to use this material for the manufacture of the guardrail. The guardrail is a sink impact energy which is used as a protective passive road safety. Galvanized steel is currently used to manufacture the guardrail, due to their high strength, but is questionable for its high stiffness. In this sense, it is proposed to replace it with a material constructed of spider silk, with greater flexibility and lower hardness to ensure road safety. To ensure the durability of the structure and protect it from adverse weather conditions, it is proposed coating it with a coating of rubber Ethylene Propylene Diene. Comparative analyzes will be made with the help of ANSYS engineering software.
