Özet:Finlay discovered and described the importance of the biological vector through the metaxemic theory of the transmission of diseases by biological agents, applying it to the yellow fever transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito being the first to theorize on the transmission of diseases through mosquitoes. As a consequence of the discovery of Dr. Carlos Finlay, another renowned doctor, William Gorgas, implemented in Panama the principles indicated by Finlay for the sanitary bases. It was a measure of protection of the public health of Panama Canal workers, which allowed the success of the construction of the Panama Canal, a great work of engineering of the 20th century, before of this great discovery of Finlay, the yellow fever and malaria had killed the people who worked in its construction.
